Dream Sacks: A
family owned company located in Ashland, Oregon and proud members of
Green American, Organic Trade Association and committed to maintaining
strong relations with factories and workers who create their designs.
The products are made of natural fibers including silk, viscose from
bamboo, organic cotton and tencel. Dream Sacks travels twice a year to
China to insure that the manufacturers in the creation of their designs
adhere to the eco friendly and Fair Trade standards for producing the
fibers and finished designs that they offer.
It’s with pride and pleasure that Dream
Sacks introduces Yala®. Dream Sacks still makes the dreamiest bamboo bedding,
and the cozy, classic designs that they have made since 1996 when they introduced
DreamSacks® and BambooDreams®. They are the same people answering the phone and
happily filling your orders from their headquarters in Ashland, OR. As their path
has unfolded, they wanted a new way of describing themselves that is more
global, more joyful and more welcoming to the brilliant growth they continue to
experience. All of their women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel, bedding,
travel gear and accessories will now be sold, worn and enjoyed under Yala.
Yala builds upon the elegant
simplicity, environmental commitments and respectful global business practices they’ve
held in focus over the past fifteen years. Like their business model of
conscious, continuous improvement & enjoyment, the changes won’t all appear
overnight. There is an exciting selection of new materials, colors, designs,
web presence and partnerships they look forward to announcing as Yala is born. They are looking forward to their new chapter
as Yala, and hope you share in our excitement as we celebrate and build on what
we’ve already begun. If you have any questions, they look forward to hearing
from you & thank you for your interest.
Here’s to roaming, with love for the
journey,
Nancy, Chelsea and Larry Morgan
Note from Yala:
It
was 1987. We were young---two English teachers living and working in Fujian,
China and raising a six-year-old. We were explorers. We didn’t have a lot of
money but we had a deep well of curiosity that refreshed us daily. So with open
hands and hearts we journeyed near and far, taking trips and treks every
weekend we could. We slept on beds without sheets or mattresses, even on the
grassy ground a few times. And that’s when the idea came: to nurture and
protect us in our unfamiliar sleeping circumstances, we stitched together two
well-worn sheets as a clean and comforting liner for wherever we laid our
heads. We slept cozy each night dreaming of the next day’s adventure. And every
morning awoke, rolled up our “dreamsack”, and started off again.
The accidental beginning of Dream
Sacks: Those stitched together sheets became the first DreamSack®. And in 1996
we became a family company. Now many years and many ideas and creations later,
that same curiosity and care goes into everything we make at Yala. From
classics that make sleeping more sumptuous to soft, nurturing layers that
provide the simple elegance you crave. They are the clothes you really live
your life in.
One last thing: We believe the dreams
we have at night point us down our path. So while we’re still traveling without
a map, we never venture anywhere without the sincere hope that someday our
journey joins with yours, our paths will cross, and we will meet.
